Daiku Cambodia
Daiku Cambodia is the information, dialogue and advocacy wing of the civil society in Cambodia. Its representation is from the most at risk population and it’s the affected communities that bring out the grassroots level issues in the forum for effective advocacy using the different components of the forum. Currently it is hosted by the HIV/AIDS Coordinating committee and coordinated by Khmer HIV/AIDS NGO Alliance, Cambodian Network of People living with HIV (CPN+) ,Cambodian Community of Women living with HIV (CCW+), Positive women of hope organisation (PWHO), ARV Users Association (AUA), Cambodian Alliance for Combating HIV/AIDS (CACHA), Cambodian HIV/AIDS and Human rights network (CHAHRN), Women’s network for unity (WNU) Cambodian business coalition on AIDS (CBCA), Bandanh Chaktomuk besides the host organisation with technical assistance from Health & Development Networks (HDN), www.hdnet.org, www.healthdev.net.
World AIDS Day 2008 Events in Cambodia
Daiku Cambodia, hosted by the HIV/AIDS Coordination Committee (HACC) is working in partnership with the National AIDS Authority in Cambodia to organize World AIDS Day 2008 events in the capital city of Phnom Penh. The activities on December 1st will center around the location of Wat Batum Pagoda, with an expected 5,000 people to attend. The day's activities will be opened by H.E. Ms. Bunrany Hun Sen, the first lady of Cambodia, after which the first lady will visit people living with HIV (PLHIV) staying in local hospitals. H.E. Hun Sen, the Prime Minister of Cambodia, is also expected to attend. In addition to all-day condom and Information, Education, Communication (IEC) posters and leaflet distribution, mobile phone numbers will be gathered, with an expected 6,000 people to receive HIV & AIDS awareness-targeted SMS. Additional planned events include a parade from Hun Sen Park to Wat Botum Pagoda, an evening concert, and youth debates.
